Our Perfect Home: Update 5

We have come to the close of week 5.  Wow how things are moving along so fast.  It's unbelievable!  I'm getting more and more excited each time I drive out to see the progress.  Today I drove out and was pleased to see the garage door down and locked along with a front door and back door up and locked.  I looked inside and they have all the electrical put in.  So now I must get a key from Shannon or catch the guys in action to see the inside.  Our sidewalk was poured today as well.  It's hard to believe that we may be moved in and getting settled in about a month.  To be honest...I have no idea what comes next with the house.  I'll have to contact Shannon.

Our Perfect Home: Update 4

Today we meet the end of week 4.  A lot has been done in a week.  The frame was started and finished in 2 days.  Then the plumbing went in along with gas lines.  We have a bathtub in the guest bath and the shower pan in for the master shower.  I drove by today and the windows and sides of the house were on.  Shannon stopped me and said we have a 90% chance of closing in September instead of October!!!  That makes me super excited.  The roof should be going in this week...I guess tomorrow.  It's taking shape so fast.  Adnan and I walked through it on Sunday and we can actually see a house!!

Our Perfect Home: Update 4

Week 3 has begun!!  As you know, last Friday the slab was poured. Yippee!!!  We are finally seeing some real progress.  I wasn't expecting anything to happen until the slab was ready to build on.  I went out there on Monday night (8-15) and nothing had been done.  I decided to drive out there yesterday (8-16) and magically there was a driveway! Didn't know it was going in so soon.  All the other homes wait until the end or close to the end before they get driveways.  Guess we are special.  Or could be because we have a corner lot and there are more ways to get to the house besides just the front.  Shannon told us that they would start framing today.  Adnan and I went out there around 11:45am and they had a lot of the frame already up.  Hopefully it will be done in a few days.  I don't know what comes next after the framing is done. I'll have to find out.

Our Perfect Home: Update 3

During week 2 of the build this is what all took place...
We waited and waited.  Watching just a pile of dirt and a pile of rebar.  Finally the dirt mounds were created and covered with black plastic.  They finally put in the rebar on the 9th and poured foundation on Friday, August 12th.  I took mom out there the other day to see the slab.  It had to cure for a few days so we were just waiting.  Next week we will have more progress.

Our Perfect Home: Update 2

So it's been 2 weeks since they started building our house. I took mom out there yesterday to see what they had been doing. Not much had changed since I was last out there on Friday.  They had dug up some places but that was all.  They had the bundles of rebar out on the lot and Shannon said they would be working on the electrical, water pipes, and rebar this week getting ready to pour the foundation on Thursday and Friday.  Mom and I met our neighbor Jack, who lives at the end of the street.  And a few other neighbors that were outside seemed very nice and friendly.  I plan on going back out later today or maybe tomorrow.  Stay tuned for next weeks update!

Our Perfect Home: Update 1

So Adnan and I went out to see if the crew had made any progress on the house today. They have 7 or so other homes that they are working on so I can't expect to see change every day.  They did have a mini bobcat out there. I didn't see any changes besides they had cleared the ground where they are putting in our sidewalk.  That was the only change I could see.  Adnan found some vampire stakes made up but other than that, nothing.  I hope the stakes aren't a sign of crazy neighbors!

Our Perfect Home

It all started when our realtor couldn't find us the perfect place to buy.  We have been searching for months for the perfect home, put in several offers, and went through lots of paperwork.  Finally Connie was able to show us this place out in Katy. (I sure am glad she went into work on that Sunday afternoon.) She took us out to Morton Creek Ranch where we will now call home.  Adnan and I both fell in love with everything that Pride Builders had to offer. Shannon is a great salesperson to work with and has answers to all of our new home buyer questions.  We started the process on July 12th and can expect a build completion sometime in October. Tuesday July 26th was the first official day that our house was started on.  We are both super excited. The next three months are going to be crazy...the build process, the waiting, excitement and whatever other emotions we will go through.  It started out searching for the perfect lot. After discussing corner lot or no corner lot, I got my pick.  I chose the corner lot!  Then we went through and picked out all of our colors and upgrades. Boy was that hard.  After finalizing our change orders they got started. It started out as a pretty green lot with nothing on it.  After the first couple of days the crew scraped the lot.  The next day they watered our lot for hours.  When I went back out yesterday it was still so muddy. I almost slipped getting out of the truck.  Today I ventured back out there to find that they have put up the frame work for the foundation.  Next comes plumbing and actual foundation.  Once the foundation is up, it shouldn't take long.
