Our Perfect Home: Moved in!

So we have been in the new house for about 3 weeks. Loving it. It's so cozy.  Still can't believe we are in our own home. Still have some boxes left to unpack but for the most part we are all unpacked and settled in. We had our parents over the first weekend here. It turned out great. Our neighbors are always out having a good time but we have been so busy we haven't gotten a chance really to get out and meet them. We met a few of them already but haven't hung out yet. Maybe soon.  We have been slammed by all the solicitors! No more answering the doors on the weekends!! 

Our Perfect Home: Update 8

Well guys....Week 8 has passed us up.  Only a week left until move in!  It's been a long exciting journey.  I have to say I have mixed emotions about going.  Adnan and I went out today and the guys were putting in light fixtures and wall plugs, along with smoke detectors. The tile was completed last week.  Toilets went in today and sinks and hardware went in for them as well.  Counter tops were installed a couple days ago and look great.  All that's left is sod which goes down on Friday of this week.  Carpet goes in next week along with appliances.  Hard to believe that 8 weeks ago they started building. Shannon has been great!  I'm glad we came across Pride-Builders!!

Our Perfect Home: Update 7

Ok guys.  Only about 2 weeks left until the big move.  Our close date is scheduled for Sept 29th!! The house got cabinets put in on Saturday and paint yesterday. Oh and our patio was poured yesterday. Adnan and I went out today and they were laying tile. I'm so happy with the color selections. One thing that did tick me off a little is some kid named Kevin has been putting his signature in our concrete.  Went out there last night around 6:30 and he had engraved his name into the A/C slab which isn't a big deal because it will obviously be covered up...but when we were out there today I noticed yet another 'Kevin' engraved....ON OUR PATIO!  It wouldn't of been so bad if it were in a spot that I could cover up with a plant or bbq grill but no...of course not.  We stopped in to let Shannon know and her construction guys are going to handle it.  Anyway, only a couple more updates and it will be completed!

Our Perfect Home: Update 6

Yet another week has past.  They put the drywall up on Friday September 2nd.  Tape and mud was done on Sunday the 4th.  I haven't been out to see what's going on since Friday.  I'm going out tonight before class. Shannon said our estimated closing will be Sept 22-30th!  WooHoo!! I can't wait.

Our Perfect Home: Update 5

We have come to the close of week 5.  Wow how things are moving along so fast.  It's unbelievable!  I'm getting more and more excited each time I drive out to see the progress.  Today I drove out and was pleased to see the garage door down and locked along with a front door and back door up and locked.  I looked inside and they have all the electrical put in.  So now I must get a key from Shannon or catch the guys in action to see the inside.  Our sidewalk was poured today as well.  It's hard to believe that we may be moved in and getting settled in about a month.  To be honest...I have no idea what comes next with the house.  I'll have to contact Shannon.

Our Perfect Home: Update 4

Today we meet the end of week 4.  A lot has been done in a week.  The frame was started and finished in 2 days.  Then the plumbing went in along with gas lines.  We have a bathtub in the guest bath and the shower pan in for the master shower.  I drove by today and the windows and sides of the house were on.  Shannon stopped me and said we have a 90% chance of closing in September instead of October!!!  That makes me super excited.  The roof should be going in this week...I guess tomorrow.  It's taking shape so fast.  Adnan and I walked through it on Sunday and we can actually see a house!!

Our Perfect Home: Update 4

Week 3 has begun!!  As you know, last Friday the slab was poured. Yippee!!!  We are finally seeing some real progress.  I wasn't expecting anything to happen until the slab was ready to build on.  I went out there on Monday night (8-15) and nothing had been done.  I decided to drive out there yesterday (8-16) and magically there was a driveway! Didn't know it was going in so soon.  All the other homes wait until the end or close to the end before they get driveways.  Guess we are special.  Or could be because we have a corner lot and there are more ways to get to the house besides just the front.  Shannon told us that they would start framing today.  Adnan and I went out there around 11:45am and they had a lot of the frame already up.  Hopefully it will be done in a few days.  I don't know what comes next after the framing is done. I'll have to find out.
